Can you verify the sender?

Yes — I know the sender

Likely safe, but check these red flags before you act:

  • Asking for money, crypto or bank details? Treat as scam — call the sender on a known number to confirm.
  • Contains a link? Don't tap it. Open the company's app or website manually.
  • Threats or extortion? Don't reply. Screenshot and report it.

If none of the above, the message should be safe.

Maybe — looks familiar

Call the sender using a verified number from your contacts (not the one in the message) and confirm they sent it.

If they confirm — treat as Yes above. If not — treat as No below.

No — I don't recognise the sender

Delete the message. Empty deleted messages if your device allows.

Do not tap any links or reply. If it impersonated a real organisation, report it.
